Durablility... Well let me put it this way. "They don't make 'em like they used to".
Actually that isn't really true. You can still buy a powerful vacuum cleaner that will
last for 10, maybe 15 years or longer. The problem is that it is going to not only cost you
more than $150, but you will also need the help of a knowledgable person who knows the business
and can make a recommendation that relies partially on his reputation.
What I mean by that is that I will suggest a particular machine to someone knowing that
if they are not happy with my recommendation or if it only lasts a couple of years that they
won't come back to me again, and most likely they will tell thier friends and family to not come to me.
The idea is to make suggestions based on my knowledge and experience. Yes I am selling vacuum cleaners,
but I am selling my store's reputation as well.
All to often we see vacuums (typically priced in the < $200 range) lasting only a few years.
It used be that an investment of only $100 would get you a vacuum that would last for 20 years!
One good bit of advice is that if you look at the length of the warranty and the types of things it covers,
that should give you a pretty good idea of how confident the manufacturer is in the quality of the machine.
Also if you are dealing with a vacuum shop, you can be assured that we are not going to sell you something
that isn't up to par without warning you about it.
