When replacing a motor you MIGHT need to replace the gasket.
Some units have quite differently shaped gaskets that are more functional that must be reused. Generally, the gasket is to keep the motor from being metal on metal when bolted in. This will reduce vibration and allow for a better suction seal. Also, I should mention that some motor installs do not require a gasket at all and some will use this size, but they might need to be trimmed.
